Track: How young people can change the food industry

Mackenzie Dion is fascinated with how emerging technology can make food production more sustainable and equitable. She wants to help solve the food system’s biggest problems, namely identifying and popularizing sustainable sources of protein. Mackenzie has interned for Solar Foods,Good Dot, Food Tank and she has done a variety of work in food and agriculture such as leading community food security initiatives, farming and gardening, improving and auditing institutional food supply chains, and environmental justice advocacy. Mackenzie is a Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majors in Food Systems with minors in Environmental Science and Women’s and Gender Studies.
